Johnny Depp to finance the Lone Ranger movie?

Johnny Depp is planning to put his hand in his pocket.
The actor is said to be so devastated over the decision to cancel the Lone Ranger movie that he prepared to fund it himself.
Sources close to the Pirates of the Caribbean star, who was set to play the Lone Ranger’s American Indian companion Tonto in the film, say Depp is exploring the possibility of producing the movie himself.
“Johnny is passionate about the Lone Ranger as a character and Tonto especially,” reveals one movie insider.
“He has already carried out extensive research into the character and he doesn’t want to see that go to waste. Johnny feels this is a story that needs to be told and he’s talking to contacts about financing the project outside of Disney.”
